Tales from the Tax Trough VI (single copy)

How your government is wasting your money.

As our nation continues down the path of high taxes and wasteful government spending, the National Citizens Coalition has taken the iniative once again to compile the most egregious examples of just how poorly government watches over our hard-earned tax dollars.

Here is our sixth edition of Tales from the Tax Trough. Please take the time to read through these examples of how bad things really are within the halls of our federal and provincial governments.

  • The Ontario Smart System for Health Agency was set up to create an electronic records system for Ontario healthcare. After 7 years and $647, 000, 000.00 the program was scrapped. A new organization, eHealth, was established. $1 billion has now been spent with no end in sight! Auditor General McCarter continues to probe into this matter and his initial report paints a very disturbing picture of fiscal mismanagement
  • The federal government has spent more than $1 million a year since 2006 to support a public appointments commission that does not exist.
  • A study was commissioned to explain differences in human rights protections and the expansion of gay and lesbian rights in Argentina, Chile and Mexico at a cost of $62, 156

In this booklet we also offer concrete suggestions to government to help them get our finances back on the right track.
