British Columbia's new Premier has announced her intention to lower the HST rate in the province. In order to pay for the lower HST, the government will also raise other taxes. In other words, this is an exercise of lowering taxes by raising taxes. Ouch!

The upcoming Ontario election campaign will be largely centred on McGuinty's disastrous Green Energy Act - except most of this contract remains a secret. All that is clear is that Samsung was given a special "economic development adder" of $437-million. Never seen that term before? It is just another name for a handout. Ouch!

Dalton McGuinty's government in Ontario has a dismal record when it comes to online disclosure of records and expenses. Now, four years after requested to do so, Dalton McGuinty has released only half of the government's records on day-care centres. He will not release any informatrion about 'serious' incidents - such as abuse, mistreatment or death. Ouch!

Canada's MPs already have a generous compensation, salray and benefits package. It gets even better for some - including any retiring or newly-defeated MPs, who are set to begin receiving their pensions or serverence packages. This year, taxpayers will fork over an additional $4.9-million for these 'gold-plated' pension obligations. OUCH!
