Canada is set to introduce new polymer-based banknotes to replace our $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills by 2013. The cost of adopting the new bills and integrating our equipment? $100-million. There are over 500,000 machines across Canada that must be upgraded to handled the lighter, thinner bills. Ouch!

The CBC, which receives more than $1.1 billion of taxpayers' money each year also benefits from the Canadian Media Fund. This is a fund that private sector broadcasters and companies pay into - and the CBC receives millions of dollars each year without contributing a dime. Ouch!
